A 2015 Yosemite High School graduate was injured on his way home from the Sober Grad event last week.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Oliver Curley was driving southbound on Highway 41 north of Hogan’s Mountain Road, at 5:35 a.m., June 6. Traveling at the stated speed of 55, Curley turned his car to the left, causing the vehicle to travel in a southeasterly direction as it crossed through the northbound land of Highway 41, and proceeded down an embankment. The vehicle continued down the embankment, subsequently colliding with a wire fence at the bottom.
Curley, a YHS valedictorian and all league soccer player, apparently fell asleep at the wheel. His 17-year-old passenger received minor injuries. Curley was released from the hospital Monday.
Alcohol and/or drugs were not a factor in the accident.
