Nineteen families who applied for assistance from the Oakhurst Fire Relief fund, have each received $3,260.
The fund was establish by Oakhurst Honorary Mayor Matthew Sands to assist those who lost homes in the Junction and Courtney Fires in Oakhurst and near Bass Lake.
A number of fundraisers were held for the fund, as well as individual donations from members of the community.
Some of the larger funds that were part of the $62,000 raised came from fundraisers held by Erna’s Elderberry House Restaurant ($6,700), Century 21 Real Estate ($5,000), Miller’s Landing Resort ($12,355), Crab Cakes Restaurant ($3,875), Ahwahnee Hitching Post and Ahwahnee Heating ($3,680), United Security Bank ($3,560), Our Lady of the Sierra ($3,300), Idle Hour Winery/Queen’s Inn ($13,115), and Yosemite Bank ($1,000).
