A head-on collision on Road 200 and Hartley Road in North Fork claimed the lives of both drivers and a dog.
The accident, which took place around 4:45 p.m. Thursday, July 10, occurred when Michael Wayne Bowlan, 36, of North Fork was driving a 1989 Buick Century headed eastbound on Road 200 when, for unknown reasons, Bowlan crossed the double yellow line striking the front left end of a 2007 4-door Toyota Corolla traveling west on Road 200.
The driver of the Corolla was 60-year-old Friant resident, Gloria Ann Jackson.
Bowlan was pronounced dead on arrival while Jackson died on scene shortly after witnesses arrived.
Neither of the victims were carrying any passengers at the time of the accident.
The Jaws of Life were used to remove Bowlan from the car, who was pinned inside, and SkyLife was called to the scene however upon notification that both drivers were dead the evac was called off.
The accident caused the closure of Road 200 for more than two hours before emergency personnel could clear the scene of debris and re-open the road for traffic.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
