A winter storm warning above 6000 is now in effect until 4 p.m. Saturday, March 1, for higher elevations of the Central/Southern Sierra Nevadas.
Snow accumulation is expected between 12 and 24 inches.
According to the national weather service the threat of heavy snow will continue through this evening and snow showers will continue during the remainder of tonight. Winds will continue to blow through at 20 to 40 mph with gusts up to 80 mph along the crests.
A winter storm warning means significant amounts of snow, sleet and Ice are expected or occurring. Strong winds are also possible as this will make travel very hazardous or impossible
