The Making of America Constitution Seminar will be held 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 14, at Yosemite New Life Church, 40390 Junction Drive.
The cost of the seminar is $10 and includes a 135-page workbook.
The Making of America Seminars are taught all over the country by teachers from the National Center for Constitutional Studies. Materials were developed by Dr. W. Cleon Skousen, author of “The 5000 Year Leap,” and the excellent student materials were purchased by several Mountain Area donors and given to area schools over the last few years in honor of Constitution Day, Sept 17.
Institutions receiving federal funds are required to hold educational programs pertaining to the U.S. Constitution. The full day seminar looks at the system of self-government that America’s founding fathers discovered and put into a written document, known as the Constitution. The interactive seminar uses engaging stories, fill-in-the-blank study guides, and is recommended for junior high age and up.
The seminar will cover:
The colonization of and the first permanent settlements in America, including Jamestown and Plymouth.
What the founders learned as they studied the civilizations of the past and how they implemented the correct principles of government they discovered into a written Constitution.
The early days of the original 13 colonies from the writing of the Declaration of Independence to the signing of the Constitution of the United States.
The key personalities and major topics in the Constitutional Convention
Many of the provisions in the US Constitution itself.
Questions and comments at set intervals throughout the seminar and at the close.
