Alan Wileman has joined the editorial staff of the Sierra Star as a reporter.
Wileman, born and raised Exeter, is a recent graduate of California State University, Fresno, with a B.A. in journalism.
Wileman graduated from Exeter High in 2002. There he was a varsity wrestler and baseball player, spent two years in the madrigal choir and was the student body treasurer.
Growing up Wileman was heavily involved in Boy Scouts of America where he spent time camping, bike riding, learning leadership skills and earned the rank of Eagle Scout.
Following high school, before deciding to attend college at Fresno State,Wileman spent numerous summers helping on the family ranches, where they grow mandarins and limes.
While at Fresno State, he was a volunteer member of the school paper, ‘The Collegian,’ and with the help of a colleague published a lengthy article in the Fresno Bee
“I’ve visited Yosemite Valley several times to climb Half Dome and go horseback riding with my family,” Wileman said. “I love being outside when I have free time.”
Wileman says he enjoys meeting new people, learning about different walks of life and sharing that information with others.
“I’m excited to join the Sierra Star staff,” Wileman said. “I’m look forward to meeting residents of the Mountain Area and covering community news and events.”
