Former professional baseball pitcher Ted Lilly will present a free baseball clinic 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. this Saturday at the Sierra Mountain Little League fields behind the Oakhurst Community Center. Lilly will mix inspiring words with helping 4-12 year-olds improve their skills. Players should arrive at the event early to register. In case of rain, the event will be moved to the Oakhurst Elementary School gym. In addition to the clinic, Little League try-outs for 8-12 year-olds will be held 8 a.m. - noon on Jan. 27 and Feb. 3 at the Little League fields. Newly installed Oakhurst Area Chamber President Melanie Barker, left, receiving the gavel from outgoing President Betty Linn. Before a crowd of 70, the Oakhurst Area Chamber announced the new board members for 2018 at a luncheon in Bass Lake last week. In addition to Barker, other chamber executive board members for 2018 are outgoing President Betty Linn, President-Elect Donna Dozier (Trendz Hair Studio), Secretary Anne Driscoll (Branches Books), and Treasurer Dee Ann Smith (Discover Yosemite).The 2018 board members to be installed are Julie Fullmer (Fullmer’s Appliance Repair) Dr. Robert Brosi, DDS, Casey Lucas (Cool Bean Cafe), Christian Mueller (The Redwoods in Yosemite), Wendy Burke (Tenaya Lodge), and Jessica Steele (Grocery Outlet Bargain Market). The chamber will name the man, woman and business of the year for 2017 at a special event to be announced in the near future. Nomination applications will be sent out 45 days prior to the event and will also be available at the chamber office.
