An American celebration

Letters to the Editor - 7/10/14 edition

July 8, 2014

Dear Editor,

To everyone in the Mountain Area, if you didn't attend the Oakhurst Community Band's "Celebrate America Concert" Sunday, June 29, at the Mountain Christian Center, you missed an inspirational evening.

Among the selections played were The Star Spangled Banner, America The Beautiful, and an Armed Forces Medley. U.S. Army Chaplain-Colonel Steven Eddy read the Gettysburg Address. Present and past armed force members were recognized.

There were standing ovations following several musical selections. We left the program with this thought: "We are lucky to live in America."
