Willy Wonka auditions at Golden Chain July 14-15

July 8, 2014

This November, the Golden Chain Theatre will perform Ronald Dahl's delightful "Willy Wonka," brought to you from the directors of "I Can't Believe that Didn't Win a Tony," and "The Ladies of Tin Pan Alley."

"Willy Wonka" is the wonderful story of Charlie Bucket, a little boy with no money, but a good heart, who dreams wistfully of being able to buy the candy that other children enjoy.

Auditions will be held 6-9 p.m., Monday and Tuesday , July 14 and 15, at the theatre on Highway 41, north of Oakhurst.

The auditions will consist of a reading, vocal and short dance audition, all presented as a group. Main roles will be asked to sing a solo of the person's choosing.

Rehearsals for the production will be held 5:30-7:30 p.m., Monday-Thursday, starting July 28, for the duration of summer. Young children that are cast will only be required to attend Thursday rehearsals.

"No experience is necessary ... we only ask for a positive attitude," said Director Jennifer Piccolotti.

Whether you remember the classic children's book, the 1971 Gene Wilder movie or the most recent Johnny Depp version of Willy Wonka, this live musical depiction of this wonderful family show will warm your heart and be a great experience for all who help in bringing it to our mountain community.
