Collector Car Appreciation Day

The Coarsegold Chamber of Commerce will hold its Collector Car Appreciation Day and barbecue, 5-8 p.m., Friday, July 11 at the Historic Village in Coarsegold. All makes, models and years are welcome.

Yosemite Music Festival

The Yosemite Music Festival, presented by Carter Ranch, will be held July 11 and 12 at the Mariposa Fairgrounds. Thirteen bands will perform music ranging from bluegrass to rock. Onsite RV, car and tent camping will be available.

A weekend pass for both days runs $40 for adults 18 years and older; $20 for youth 13-17 years of age; and free for children under 12. A one-day pass for Saturday only is $20, and the late night show is $5.


Smokey Bear winners

The Smokey Bear coloring contest winners were announced center stage last Saturday at the Yosemite Festival in Oakhurst Community Park. The following are all Oakhurst competitors and winners:

Hometown hero voting

The Oakhurst office of Northland Communications invites Oakhurst residents to cast their vote July 7-20 to help select the Hometown Hero. Oakhurst residents submitted nominations to honor fellow neighbors who have gone above and beyond to enrich the lives of others and make a positive impact in the community.

The nominations have been narrowed down to finalists, and voting will open July 7 at The winning hero will receive $250 and a $500 donation to an area charity of sponsor's choice. Those who submit a vote will be entered for a chance to win a $250 gift card.


Yosemite Sierra Visitors Bureau photographs

The Yosemite Sierra Visitors Bureau is accepting submission of stunning photographs for the annual visitors guide, which are used as a travel-planning piece for anyone asking for visitor information about the area and a guide to the area while visiting.

The bureau is looking for new "stunning" photographs of scenic vistas, attractions, culture and activities of Madera County (including foothills and valley), and the Southern Yosemite region are sought. Photos of areas outside of Madera County will not be considered.

Deadline for initial submissions is Aug. 8, and photographers must own all rights to any photographer submitted and model releases must be available upon request.

Payments range from $25 for photos placed inside to $425 for the cover shot.

Spaghetti Dinner

The Oakhurst Mountain Lions club will host an all you can eat spaghetti dinner from 5-8 p.m. Friday, July 18 at the Oakhurst Lutheran Church.

Tickets will be available at Steve's Tropical Fish, from any Oakhurst Mountain Lions member or can be purchased at the door.

Cost of the the event is $10 per person and all proceeds go towards local community charities.
