Staff report

June 21, 2014

Yosemite High School graduate Sierra Dominici has been selected to play in the 44th Annual City/County All-Star Basketball game. The game will be played at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 25, at Buchanan High School, and pits some of the best Central Valley city players against the best the county has to offer.

Dominici’s father, Steve, played in the 1985 City/County All Star Football Game, representing Madera High.

Two sierra High players, Shaylynn Eldridge and Mikayla Raley, will also play for the County. Eldridge’s grandfather, Kenny Long, played in both the City/County baseball and basketball games in 1963.

The County coach is Paul Romig of Selma, who has taken his team to the Central Sequoia League championship and to the D-III valley finals the last two years. During his coaching career, he has won 10 league championships and has been named state Coach of the Year twice.

Coaching the City team is Dara Johnson of Hoover High, who led her team to the North Sequoia League championship for the sixth time.

The City team won last year’s contest 83-51.

The boy’s All-Star game will be played at 7:30 p.m.

General admission is $10 — Seniors and students are $7.
