Shelter pet adoptions half off during June

June 13, 2014

Due to an overflow of dogs and cats at the Madera County Animal Shelter, all dog or puppy adoptions are $50, and cats and kittens are $30 during the month of June.

The animal shelter takes in about 40 unwanted or stray homeless animals daily, and only about 30% of these find new homes.

Adoption hours are noon to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays. Free spay and neuter vouchers are available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays only; vouchers are not available from 12 to 1 p.m. Madera identification required.

The shelter is located at 14269 Road 28 in north Madera, behind the new jail facility.
