Moe named to all-state JC softball team

May 27, 2014

Although Yosemite High School 2013 graduate Emily Moe was looking forward to attending Reedley Community College and pitching for the school's softball team, her first year success was far more than the girl from Raymond could have imagined.

Her 12-10 win-loss record (10-1 in conference play) on the season helped lead the Reedley Tigers to a 15-3 record and the Central Valley Conference Championship. Moe was then honored by being named Pitcher of the Year in the conference. She was one of just 32 players (five pitchers) in California to be named to the Junior College All State Softball Team.

Moe finished conference play with a 3.23 ERA for 164 innings pitched, 46 strike outs, and a .926 fielding percentage.

"It was a great season and I was happy to be named the conference Pitcher of the Year and named to the All State team," Moe said. "Coming from the small town of Raymond that no one ever heard of, I honestly didn't expect to ever receive these honors, especially in my freshman year."

The Tigers made it to the first round of other Nor Cal play-offs, losing to Sacramento City College.

Moe accepted her All State award May 17 in Bakersfield at a banquet during the JC state tournament.

Reedley Coach Kathleen Kuball praised Moe for her outstanding season.

"Emily did an outstanding job for us this season," Kuball said. "She worked hard to improve and bring her game to the next level. Emily was an important piece of our team success and we enjoyed working with her."

Emily is the daughter of Glen and Alexis Moe.
