Heroes Honored

Small and large American flags decorated Oakhurst's Oakhill Cemetery Monday in honor of members of the military who fought and died for freedom.

Pastor Sam Tillmon officiated at a special Memorial Day service in the Little Church on the Hill, including the singing of four hymns and "God Bless America."

Members of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Marine Corps League Griswold Detachment 1121 held a ceremony, including a volley of three rifle-shots in honor of fallen comrades.

Jerry Bosworth, a Marine and Vietnam veteran, spoke solemnly on remembering those who have died to protect the liberties and freedoms of America as more than 200 small American flags waved in the gentle breeze.
