Rock legends concert this Saturday

May 20, 2014

Chukchansi Gold Resort & Casino has released the lineup of entertainers performing at the Coarsegold casino's outdoor pavilion during the "Sounds of Summer" concert series.

Opening the series will be Pat Benatar and Neil "Spyder" Giraldo at 8 p.m., Saturday, May 24.

The powerhouse duo behind one of the largest arsenals of rock hits including "Love is a Battlefield," "Hit Me with Your Best Shot," "Heartbreaker," "We Live for Love," "Promises in the Dark," and "We Belong."

"Heartbreaker" (on the debut album "In the Heat of the Night") was the catalyst for it all 35 years ago," said Benatar. "It's hard to believe that so much time has passed. We're excited to be celebrating this personal and musical milestone.

"From the very beginning our chemistry was undeniable," said Giraldo. "This is the driving force behind everything we do. After 35 years of playing together, we're looking forward to the summer tour and the future, which will surely be adventurous."

Together, with Benatar's mezzo-soprano vocal range and Giraldo's trail-blazing work as a guitarist, producer and songwriter, Benatar and Giraldo have forged one of the most successful partnerships in rock and roll history. Since their initial collaboration, they have sold more than 26 million albums and charted 19 Top 40 singles, earning four consecutive Grammy Awards and three American Music Awards.

Billboard Magazine ranked Benatar as one of the most successful female rock vocalist of all-time. Her emergence as a fearless, fighting force has helped forge a path for other female rock stars around the world. In addition to the arsenal of more then 100 songs he's written, produced, and recorded for Benatar, Giraldo's helped create hits for legions of other artists including John Waite, and Rick Springfield (Grammy-winning classic "Jessie's Girl").

Tickets are $35, $45, and $55.
