Yosemite softball players named to All League team
Three Yosemite High softball players have been named to the NSL All League team. Sophomore lefty pitcher and first baseman Amy Whitcomb was voted to the All League First Team. She was also named co-underclassman of the year with Carlie Duke of Liberty High.
Senior team leaders Mariah Lincoln (second base) and Tiala Manning (third base) were named to the All League Second Team.
Season ends for Yosemite baseball
The Yosemite High School baseball team (9-20, 6-9 NSL) lost its opening Central Section D-III play-off game 11-1 May 13 to Fresno's Hoover High School (20-8, 11-3).
Hoover was the No. 4 seed in the division and Yosemite was seeded No. 13.
The winning pitcher was Dominic Jaramillo and Joey Woolsey got the loss.
The Patriots were leading the Badgers 4-1 going into the bottom of the fifth and then scored seven runs in the last two innings.
It was the first play off win for Hoover in 14 years. The Patriots were led by catcher Tyler Jones who doubled, singled, walked twice, stole two bases, and scored three runs. Scott Graves had a home run and three RBIs.
Hoover was champions of the North Yosemite League this year, the school's first league title in 39 years.
A youth baseball clinic will be held 2-5 p.m. this Sunday at Minarets High School.
The clinic is being hosted by Minarets varsity baseball players Sam Romero, Conly Biglione, Jordan Christian, and Keenan Reardon.
Cost is $10 per participant and all proceeds will benefit Manna House.
