Thursday, May 15, the Madera County District Attorney's Office charged Kenneth James Wilson with first degree murder, together with special circumstances, in the 2001 death of Gary Flynn, said District Attorney Michael Keitz.
Victim Flynn, then 68, of Oakhurst, was discovered shot to death in the gun shop he co-owned in Oakhurst called the Sportsman's Den. The case went unsolved until Fresno Sheriff's detectives, working on an unrelated case, developed evidence connecting Wilson to Flynn's death.
"We anticipate that this will be a first step in what will ultimately be a long journey of legal issues, but, certainly it is a trip we must make for the victim of this horrible crime," said District Attorney Keitz.
"My thanks to Fresno Sheriff Mims and her detectives for their efforts. We look forward to working together with the Fresno and Madera County law enforcement agencies to develop additional evidence to further the cause of justice in this case," said Keitz.
Wilson, 36, of Fresno is presently serving time in prison on another conviction.
