Chili cook-off Saturday

Sports Briefs for 5/15/14 edition of the Sierra Star

The inaugural Yosemite Youth Football Chili Cook-Off will be held this Saturday at the Oakhurst Community Center.

Check-in for cooking teams is at 8 a.m., with on-site cooking 9 a.m. - noon. The competition is divided into two categories — individual and business/club. Entry fee is $40 per entry.

The winning business/club will receive a "Best Chili in their Mountains" banner and the individual winner will receive a cash prize and a trophy.

Public tasting will be held noon - 3 p.m. and tickets are $10 per person, $5 for children 12-4, three and under free.

In addition to the chili tasting, a silent and live auction will be held with prizes including a Miller's Landing Resort party barge rental, 18-hole golf package for four (including carts) at Sierra Meadows Golf Club, and a variety of gift cards for area stores and restaurants.

Country music will be provided by Crossroads.
