Help wanted in search for missing at risk adult

April 30, 2014

The Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office is requesting the public “be on the lookout” for an At Risk Missing Adult. Folker “Karl” Sehmsdorf, age 78, is an Alzeheimer’s Patient. He walked away from his home last night. He was last seen walking south on Highway 49 between Watt Road and Kimble Road at approximately 7:45 pm.

Karl was last seen wearing a tan jacket, blue shirt and light colored jeans. He is a 5’11” tall Caucasian male, weighing 160 pounds, with a medium build. He has hazel eyes and grey hair. If anyone has any information about Karl, call the Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office at 209-966-3615

Both Mariposa and Madera Counties maintain the “Operation Lost & Found” radio tracking system. Madera County has been given Sehmsdorf’s frequency, therefore Madera County can conduct a radio tracking search at the same time as Mariposa.

Sehmsdorf got a fairly good head start when he wandered off, so Mariposa County has asked Madera County to issue a MC-Alert emergency notification to all households and businesses in Oakhurst and Ahwahnee.

Attached is both a flyer of Karl and the Flyer issued by the Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office.

Lastly, Karl no longer sports a beard or mustache as shown in the attached photo.
