Throughout the world, people are discovering ways prayer can make huge differences in one's life. International speaker Mark Swinney says, "I have found in my own experience that gaining even just a little understanding of how prayer works means that your life never again will be the same."
Swinney will present a talk titled, "What is it that connects prayer with healing?" at 2 p.m., this Saturday, at First Church of Christ, 40447 Redbud Drive, Oakhurst.
Members of the Christian Science Church chose to invite Swinney to speak on this topic after listening to excerpts of his talk on the Internet.
"Mr. Swinney's approach to prayer resonates with anyone wanting to understand God more fully," Diane Speer, one of the event organizers for the church said. "It has been our goal to bring a speaker to town that will offer practical encouragement to a diverse community. People in the area find comfort and support in the many wonderful churches that are located here. We want to offer a talk that is universal. Prayer fits that requirement. Prayer is at the heart of what churches help us do."
A practitioner and teacher of Christian Science healing, Swinney has devoted more than 25 years to praying with people and empowering people to pray effectively for themselves. A prolific author with more than 250 published articles addressing numerous facets of prayer and healing, Swinney has traveled much of the world speaking about his heartfelt love for God and Christian healing, and is known for his honesty, humor, and candid style.
