Clean-up at Ahwahnee Park

April 22, 2014

A Volunteer Day for cleanup and work in the Ahwahnee Hills Regional Park will be held May 31, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., for anyone who can help with much needed clean-up. Any volunteer with a weedeater, blower, rake, shovel, or cleaning equipment is asked to bring them along, as well as gloves.

"Please pass the word on to your neighbors, friends or groups who would be interested in helping us do some park clean-up," Fern Facchino, chairperson of Friends of the Ahwahnee Hills Regional Park said.

About 150 guests have visited the park since its opening. To accommodate the park host and volunteers, the hours have changed to:

Open Wednesday through Sunday, 8 a.m. to dusk

Closed on Monday and Tuesday

On the days the park is closed, the walking trails will be open and available at the turnstile near Wasuma School to accommodate those who want to walk.

Remember, there are specific walking and equestrian trails, which need to be used as such.

No bicycles are allowed in the park and no horses are allowed on the walking trails.
