Oakhurst's lone competitor at the event was Tuggle, the first swimmer from the Mountain Area to qualify for the event.
Tuggle competed in seven events (the maximum allowered) in the 9-10 age division 50 yard freestyle (27.09), 100 freestyle (58.84), 200 yard freestyle (2:07.85), 500 yard freestyle (5:38.42), 100 backstroke (:09.93), 100 IM (1:08.32), and 200 IM (2:29.53).
She finished in the top 10 in six events.
In the USA swim national rankings for 9 year olds, Tuggle is currently ranked No. 1 in the 100 free, 200 free, and 500 free, and is ranked No. 2 in the 50 free and No. 4 in the 100 IM and 200 IM.
Her 500 yard time set a new record for 9-10 year olds in the Central California Swimming League.
"Claire had an absolutely phenomenal meet." said Coach Tammy Kudela. "What a thrill it was to watch her race against really fast swimmers. There is no doubt that she is atheltically a truly gifted swimmer, but she is also a very coachable individual. She listens to what she needs to improve on and then she just executes that in the water. This combined package of talents is what will carry her forward to becoming a member of a select group of elite swimmers someday in her future."
