Sheriff's Log - 4/3/14 edition of the Sierra Star

April 1, 2014 

Oakhurst

12:15 p.m. March 18 — Two suspects were found to have consumed alcoholic beverages on campus. Suspects were suspended and referred to Madera County Probation.

1:24 p.m. March 18 — Over the weekend, unknown suspects attempted to break into a business near Highway 41 ; they cut the locks and entered a shed attached to the building and stole a lamp.

6:26 a.m. March 20 — Deputy responded in regards to a burglary alarm on Road 426, where a burglary had been committed. Property from the burglary was located, identified and returned to the business. Investigation is ongoing.

12:40 p.m. March 21 — Adult female is contacted inside a local business and found to have an active felony warrant for her arrest. Female is taken into custody without incident and booked into the Madera County Department of Corrections.

11:12 p.m. March 23 — Deputy responds to an Oakhurst Area apartment complex on River Park Road for a report of vandalism.

11:18 a.m. March 25 — Sergeant is contacted by a citizen who reported a reckless driver traveling northbound on Highway 41 through Oakhurst. The vehicle was described as a white Chevrolet Caprice with a female driver. Sergeant located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. The California Highway Patrol is requested for an evaluation of the driver. The female is later arrested.

11:12 a.m. March 20 — Woman arrested for assaulting her neighbor.

8:08 a.m. March 21 — Found contraband at the casino turned over to the Sheriff's office for destruction.

2:34 p.m. March 22 — Unknown suspect(s) entered one building near Highway 49 and tried to gain entry to several others.


Ahwahnee

2:15 p.m. March 19 — Unknown suspect(s) broke a rear window of victim's mobile home near Road 601. Victim estimated the value of the damage to be about $400.

8 a.m. March 25 — Ahwahnee resident reported the theft of drill stem pipe from his property.

Bass Lake

12:30 p.m. March 23 — Unknown suspect(s) cut fence and stole gas from several vehicles located on Road 222.

Chowchilla

3:50 p.m. March 19 — Authorities called for incident regarding the cold theft of copper wire and a brass irrigator valve cover.
