Yosemite Ski Team

April 1, 2014

The Yosemite Race Team, representing Badger Pass arrived through a snowstorm, as China Peak became a winter wonderland on March 15 and 16 for the USSA/Far West Central Series Giant Slalom competition.

Scheduled for Super Giant Slalom high speed race, the abundant snow conditions that weekend changed the race to the more technical Giant Slalom.

All members of the Yosemite Race Team made the awards podium. Double gold medal winners were Blake Action and Will Fontana. Bronze medal winners were Emerson Action and Sophie Seljeseth.

Blake Action is ranked No. 1 for boys under 14 in the USSA/Far West Central Series among competitors from Dodge Ridge, China Peak, and Bear Valley. He has been included in the invitation-only Performance Camp at Sugar Bowl with the top 25 boys and top 25 under 14 girls ski racers in the far west.

Yosemite team results:

Blake Action, 13 of Ahwahnee, first place both days - boys under 14.

Will Fontana, 15 of Coulterville, first place both days - boys under 16.

Emerson Action, 11 of Ahwahnee, third place on Sunday - girls under 12.
