Sunrise Rotary continues to grow

March 26, 2014

Oakhurst Sierra Sunrise Rotary has now welcomed eight new members since November 2013. The club was chartered in 1987 making it 27 years old this year.

Sunrise Rotary has gained seven new members this year and welcomed our newest member Karina Bulow-Brown at our morning meeting Tuesday, March 25.

Kathy Creighton was welcomed in November 2013. The seven new members this year are John Honnette, Carolyn Honnette, Ed Hart, Melissa Buller, Karen Bradley, Kamran Dideban and Karina Bulow-Brown bringing the total to 29 members. Sunrise Rotary has two major fundraisers each year. The 19th Annual Cajun-Creole Festival on March 29, and the 24th Annual Rick Murphy Memorial Golf Tournament on October 18, 2014. Funds raised at our events are used for high school scholarships, elementary school Student of the Month awards, contributions to the Boys & Girls Club, Manna House, Oakhurst Community Center and many other local and international projects.

The club contributed to putting in a well for clean water in Kampala and Haiti. Rotary is a group of volunteers who are leaders in our community. Rotary International's motto is "Service Above Self".

“We are happy to be growing our club and welcome other business and service minded individuals to attend a meeting with us to see what we do."

The club meets every at 7 a.m. at the Yosemite Gateway Restaurant. For more information contact President Susan Macaulay at 683-4494.
