Cannot accept this

Letters to the Editor - 3/27/14 edition

Dear Editor,

We write this as a group of young men from Christ Community Bible Church who believe and try to follow the word of God in its entirety.

In the course of recent events regarding Mr. Gary Sconce, there has been little public disagreement from the Christians of the community. We find this disturbing.

In 1 Corinthians 6:9 it says "Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind."

Should we accept this immoral act as something of little matter? We as Christians cannot accept this horrendous sin unchallenged when our basis of belief denounces this completely. This will anger many, but we must proclaim the truth of God. We as Christians do not hate Mr. Gary Sconce, but we cannot condone his actions.

Is there this much acceptance in Oakhurst among believers for this sin? There are over 50 churches in this community and all claim to have a biblical world view. Why then have so few publicly spoken up? Should we socially accept this? We know we cannot.

We are calling the Christians of the Oakhurst community to consider, take counsel, and speak up.
