Indian Lakes fire

March 25, 2014

A house fire on Blackfoot Road in Indian Lakes completely destroyed the structure, contents and vehicles parked near the home last Monday evening, March 24. The 911 call went out about 6:30 p.m., and by the time the first engine arrived, the fire was moving at a rapid rate and 50% of the structure was burning.

According to Cal Fire Prevention Specialist Karen Guillemin, the homeowners were alerted by a smell, then a noise, and when they got up to investigate, realized their home was on fire and contacted authorities.

The Cal Fire investigator said the fire, while still under investigation, was not suspicious. There were no injuries, and the total loss is estimated at $200,000. The home was insured and the couple will live with friends.

Multiple engines responded to the scene, including the Madera County Sheriff’s Department.
