Season ends for lady Badgers

The No. 1 girls D-II basketball team in the Central Section, Garces High (29-3, 10-0) , beat Yosemite High (17-10, 7-3 NSL), the No. 5 seed, in the section semi-final game 60-37 Wednesday in Bakersfield.

Garces will now play the section’s No. 3 seed, Tulare Western, who beat Redwood High in the other semi-final, 54-52, at 6 p.m., Friday in Fresno’s Selland Arena for the section championship.

Yosemite’s Sierra Dominici and Veronica Miller both had 10 points in the game. Garces’ Celeste West had a game high 13 points.

Immanuel, the No. 1 seed in D-V, defeated the Minarets Mustangs 78-23. Immanuel will play the No. 2 seed Kern Valley High, who beat Laton, 69-48, at 2 p.m., in Friday’s title game at Selland Arena.

Immanuel’s Sara Vasquez had a game high 29 points and Zoe March added 18. High scorer for Minarets was Kristen Berry with eight points.
