The Yosemite High School girls basketball team (17-9, 7-3 NSL) opened round one of the CIF Central Section D-II playoffs with a convincing 46-28 win over the Ridgeview Wolfpack in Bakersfield Friday night.
Ridgeview was seeded No. 4 and Yosemite No. 5 going into the playoffs.
Yosemites Sierra Dominici and Veronica Miller were the games high scorers with 16 points each. Sophomore Jessica Fine added eight.
Yosemite will travel back to Bakersfield for a 7 p.m., contest on Wednesday, March 5, against the sections No. 1 seed, Garces High (28-3, 10-0). Garces is ranked as the No. 20 D-II team in the state and Yosemite is ranked No. 83 according to Maxpreps.com.
The winner of the Yosemite-Garces game will play the winner of the Madera-Redwood (Visalia) game. The winner of that game will play for the section championship at 6 p.m., Friday, March 7, at Fresnos Selland Arena.
Yosemites 6-foot-2 junior center Taylor Burrall had to leave Friday nights game in the first quarter with an ankle injury and is questionable for Wednesdays game.
