I moved the sand

Letters to the Editor - 2/27/14 edition

February 25, 2014

Dear Editor,

I recently walked across the bridge that crosses the Fresno River on Highway 41, that was renamed Kristopher's Crossing. The pedestrian walkway was distinctly covered in sand ... a hazard in my opinion.

Praying that Caltrans would send a crew of workers was senseless ... some miracles just don't happen. I could pray the Lord to do a miracle to move "just some sand," after all, it wasn't a mountain of sand. But I learned long ago that some mountains are moved one shovel-full at a time. The good memories his mother has of her son should not be sullied by the neglect of the bridge named in her son's memory. I moved the sand — for Kristopher, his mother and for my neighbors.
