Warren Lewis Prentiss died on Jan. 9, 2014 at the age of 78.

He was born in Boston, Mass., on Oct. 20, 1935.

Mr. Prentiss grew up in Gardena and lived in Thousand Oaks with his wife Elvera before purchasing property in the Mountain Area in 1966 and moving to the area in 1981.

Mr. Prentiss was an active member in the Oakhurst Lutheran Church, teaching Sunday school and attending Bible studies. He enjoyed opera, church music, and classical performances. He also served eight years in the Army Reserves.

He was actively involved in the Rotary Club, Chess Club, golf, tennis and basketball.

Mr. Prentiss is survived by his wife of 48 years, Elvera; son Alan, of Henderson, Nev; daughters Linda and Lisa, of Joplin, Mo.; grandchildren Amanda, Tiffany, Ashley, Alivia and Jacob; brothers Ralph, Gary, and Randy; brother-in-law Herbert Hennekens, of Germany.

He was preceded in death by his brother Lee.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8, at the Oakhurst Lutheran Church. Internment will take place immediately after the service at the Oakhurst Lutheran Church columbarium.
