Young wrestlers bring home medals from tournament

Yosemite Youth Wrestling Club was well represented at King of the Hill tournament at Sierra High School on Saturday, Jan. 18. It was the first tournament of the season and a first ever tournament for many of the K-8th grade wrestlers.

The wrestlers brought home several 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place medals.

The Mountain Mayhem Tournament is coming up February 22 at Yosemite High School. Over 300 junior wrestlers from throughout the Central Valley are expected to participate.

Yosemite top wrestlers at the King of the Hill tournament included:

First place: TJ Garner, Jesse DeLaCruz, Dylan DeLaCruz, and AJ Ruiz.

Second place: Tanner Garner, Andrew Garner, Josiah Gallegos, Noah Graffigna, Nicholas Guynn, Jonathon Padilla, Josh Davidson, Johnny Santymire, Cason Santymire, and Lucas McGolderick.

Third place: Lilly Graffigna, John Stephens, Jadon Santymire, Alex Rosales, Ethan Larsen, Diego Combs, and Jackson Kissee.

Fourth place: Casper Nelson, Conner Lusk, Lucas Wade, Chase Vallejo, Orion Olah, and Nicholas DeLaCruz.

The team is coached by the Yosemite High School wrestling coaches Kent Lincoln, Dan Larsen, and Dustin Wenger.

"All our young wrestlers worked hard during practice sessions and did well at the tournament," Lincoln said.
