The Yosemite Valley Stable and the Glacier Point Hut opened for visitors last week. Yosemite is typically a playground for snow sports this time of year, but due to the mild winter, select spring/summer activities are being offered for park visitors to enjoy the iconic landscape and trails in Yosemite.
The Yosemite Valley Stable is now offering two-hour guided trail rides to the Mirror Lake/ Tenaya Lake. Cost for the two-hour trail rides is $64 per rider. Guided trail rides are available daily at 9 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 2:45 p.m. Visitors can make reservations by contacting the Yosemite Valley Stable, (209) 372-8348. The Yosemite Valley Stable will remain open until the weather and trail conditions change.
The Glacier Point Ski Hut is typically an overnight experience for cross-country skiers, but due to the mild weather, the hut is now a destination for hikers this winter. Visitors can reserve an overnight stay at the Glacier Point Hut, which features a wood stove, dormitory-style accommodations and it includes meals. Hikers access the Glacier Point Hut via the Four Mile Trail from Yosemite Valley. The Four Mile Trail offers hikers exceptional views of Yosemite Falls and Half Dome.
The cost for an overnight stay on a self-guided hiking trip to the Glacier Point Hut is $120.50 per person. Guided hiking trips are available for an additional cost. The road to Glacier Point remains closed to vehicles.
We are experiencing an unusually dry and mild winter this year that is changing the types of activities available for Yosemite visitors, said Colin Baldock, guest recreation general manager. Our team is looking forward to offering skiing and other snow sports when conditions permit, but in the meantime, we are pleased to be able to offer some memorable experiences during Juneuary in Yosemite. Additional outdoor activities available now include bike rentals, stargazing programs and ice skating at the Curry Village Ice Rink.
The Yosemite Valley Stable and the Glacier Point Hut is operated by Delaware North Companies Parks & Resorts at Yosemite, an authorized National Park Service concessionaire, operating lodging, dining, guest recreation and transportation in Yosemite.
