Single car accident results in DUI

December 19, 2013

A single car accident occurred late Tuesday, Dec. 16 slowing traffic on Deadwood Pass.

Kimberly Devito of Oakhurst was traveling in a mini-SUV northbound on Highway 41 near Victoria Lane around 8 p.m. Tuesday night before losing control of the vehicle and darting off the road.

According to witnesses Devito’s car barreled 175 feet (30 feet down) into a ravine before a forest of trees brought her car to an abrupt stop.

Devito was uninjured in the accident and was able to walk away suffering only minor bumps and bruises.

Traffic control slowed drivers while a tow-truck spent nearly an hour removing the car from the embankment and getting the roadway cleared.

Devito was arrested on scene for driving under the influence and was transported to Madera County Jail. She was released the following day.
