Light up the Night

December 10, 2013

The snow may have fallen hard the night before, and the temperatures may have been lower than normal for this time of year, but it did little to dampen the spirits of the large crowd who attended last Saturday's Oakhurst community tree lighting on the north-east corner of Highway 41 and Crane Valley Road (426).

Following the tree lighting of the 60-foot Christmas tree, Santa made a grand entrance on a fire truck, much to the delight of the young and young-at-heart. Hot cider and cocoa warmed the insides, while attendees listened to traditional Christmas carols by the Yosemite High Chamber Singers and Chamber Maids.

One mother of a toddler put it best, "The festivities, the happiness on the faces of the children, the cheerfulness of the adults filled the air with such warmth that we didn't even notice how cold it was."
