The Marine Corps League will hold the annual Toy Roundup between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14, in the Old Mill Shopping Center parking lot near CVS Pharmacy. In addition, the Yosemite High School cheer and pep teams will hold a bake sale during that time with all proceeds going to Toys for Tots.

Breakfast with Santa
Breakfast with Santa, canceled last Saturday due to inclement weather, has been rescheduled to 9 a.m - noon, Saturday, Dec. 21.
More than 700 children and family members attended this event last year.
The 12th annual breakfast will be prepared by members of the Oakhurst Kiwanis Club. The breakfast includes pancakes, eggs, bacon or sausage, juice, milk and coffee. The cost is $6 for adults, $3 for children ages 6-12 and children five and under are admitted free.
In addition to breakfast and having the opportunity to talk with Santa, free children's books will be provided by Sierra Tel and stuffed animals donated by Mountain Bear Fan Club. A Christmas decorating arts and crafts table will also be available for all children.
Proceeds from the event benefit the Children's Museum of the Sierra as well as other local charities.

The Oakhurst Area Chamber of Commerce and its newly formed Merchant Retail Committee have announced that "Mountain Bucks" gift certificates will be available soon.
"Mountain Bucks" are designed to highlight Mountain Area businesses and encourage residents to think about shopping local. "Mountain Bucks" are gift certificates that residents can spend like cash at a wide variety of participating businesses. "Mountain Bucks" may be used to purchase merchandise, products, food or services.
"Mountain Bucks" will be available for purchase at the Oakhurst Area Chamber of Commerce office, 40637 Highway 41, across the highway from Denny's.
"Mountain Bucks" gift certificates make wonderful gifts for the holidays, birthdays, weddings, retirements and graduations as well as many other special occasions throughout the year. A list of participating businesses will be included with each certificate purchase.

Small Business of the Year nominations
The Small Business Administration is currently accepting nominations for several SBA awards including the 2013 Small Business of the Year Award. The Fresno SBA Office services the 15 counties of Central California. This is an opportunity to recognize an individual or an organization dedicated to the support of your area small business community.

A Cancer Support meeting
A Cancer Support Group planning meeting will be held on Monday, Dec. 16, from 5-7 p.m. at the Oakhurst Medical Group conference room. The discussion will revolve around issues related to cancer survivors living in the mountain communities, as well as meeting others who may be interested in learning about living with cancer, living through treatment and living after cancer treatment.

County service awards
The Madera County Board of Supervisors conducted its annual employee awards ceremony Tuesday and three residents of Eastern Madera County, all Madera County Sheriff deputies, were recognized for their 25 years of service.
The three honored deputies were John Terry, of Bass Lake, Sgt. Darrell Hibbens, of Coarsegold, and Sgt. Guy Rich, of Oakhurst.
Ongoing hooded sweatshirts drive
New or slightly used hooded sweatshirts are desperately needed by Yosemite High School students now that the colder weather is approaching. A box has been placed in front of the Mountain Christian Center office for drop-offs. Please note that because students will only wear hoodies, it is the only item requested for donation.
