Billie Niell, of Coarsegold, died on November 26, 2013 at the age of 75.
Mr. Niell was born October 13, 1938 in Hanford and moved to Coarsegold in 1973 when he purchased Coarsegold Market.
Prior to moving to the Mountain Area Mr. Niell attended College of Sequoias where he met his wife of 51 years, Sandy.
Mr. Niell worked for A.M. Park Land Leveling as Superintendent for 11 years. He volunteered for the Coarsegold fire department, Elks Club and worked on the Coarsegold Community Center Board.
He participated in the barbecues at the Rodeo for more than 22 years and he and his wife were named Grand Marshalls of the Coarsegold Rodeo.
Mr. Niell liked to race cars, and along with his son, was part of a Bass Pro team on the West Coast. Mr. Niell developed the Coarsegold Strip, sold real estate and helped with the 4-H. He retired in 2002.
He is survived by his wife Sandy, sons Eric of Davis, Calif., Richard of Nevada, Kelly of Coarsegold. Seven Grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
