Winter storm watch

A winter storm watch remains in effect from Friday night afternoon through Saturday afternoon for the foothills and higher elevations of the Sierra Nevada.

Predicted snow accumulations are one to six inches in the foothills, six to 12 inches above 4,000 feet, with up to two feet possible at the highest elevations.

Snow levels will lower from around 2,500 feet Friday afternoon to near 1,000 feet Friday night and Saturday.

Snow will begin in the Yosemite area by Friday afternoon and taper off during the day Saturday.

Toy roundup rescheduled for Dec. 14

The Annual Toys for Toys Toys Round-Up, scheduled for this Saturday (Dec. 7) has been rescheduled to Saturday, Dec. 14, due to the winter storm predicted to hit tomorrow and the potentially dangerous driving conditions.

Mike Perreira, Mountain Area Toys for Tots coordinator, said the event on Dec. 14 will be from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. in the parking lot of the Old Mill Shopping Center near CVS Pharmacy.

The Yosemite High School cheer and pep teams will hold a bake sale during the event will all proceeds going to Toys for Tots in the Mountain Area.
