Upcoming holiday fun

December 3, 2013

Wasuma Elementary School is having a Christmas Tree Lighting on Friday, with crafts and hot chocolate for the children. Oh, I almost forgot, Santa will be there at 6 p.m. The event is a fundraiser for their P.T.A.

I told you I would let you know about what the Oakhurst Area Chamber of Commerce is up to — well I do have some more news about the local shoppers idea. I saw the proofs for some neat signage for participating stores and bumper stickers that I hope to see all over the place as soon as they get them to us. This is so exciting for me and I hope for you.

Dorsey's Hallmark is making a big splash for their new ornaments release — there will be 12 new ornaments to see. David Dorsey said the promotion is called "Gift of Memories." Kind of neat, right? It will take place Dec. 6-8. He is planning all kinds of giveaways with purchases plus a chance to register to win a North Pole Countdown table top keepsake with MP3 player.

Something Special, the store tucked in behind McDonald's, is planning its Holiday season by being open 1- 4:30 p.m. on Sundays. I was told they are having homemade goodies and you can participate by bringing in something you make that's special — If your treat is voted best for the day you can win a vendor's gift. Their open house is this Friday.

We have been busy lately with real estate commitments and I didn't get around town as much as usual. I really meant it when I said you had to let me know about the goings on in Oakhurst, so it would really be nice to hear from you …
