School meals

Letters to the Editor - 11/21/13 edition

November 19, 2013

Dear Editor,

How is it that we can feed criminals in our prisons three meals a day and not feed a child in our public schools a meal if they don't have the money up front to pay for lunch?

Some students don't qualify for a "free lunch" and they sometimes don't have the money to buy a lunch, or food to bring from home.

A student in junior high was recently turned away because she lacked the funds. She was told that this is school policy.

Linda Skov,

Oakhurst
