Sports Briefs for the 10/17/13 edition of the Sierra Star

October 15, 2013

Jordan Keyser, 2013 Yosemite High graduate and four-time North Sequoia League Most Outstanding Player in golf, has been accepted to the University of Nevada, Reno's highly selective Honors Program. Keyser, a freshman, is a member of the schools golf team, playing on a partial scholarship.

The university's Honors Program is highly competitive academic program that seeks to provide students who are both academically talented and high motivated with an undergraduate education that promotes their ability to think competently and act ethically. Students are selected for the program based on high academic achievement, outstanding leadership ability, and career goals.

In a letter to Yosemite High School Principal Randy Seals, the university's Honors Program adviser, Tamara M. Valentine, Ph.D., said the success of students in the program testify to the quality of the students and the dedication of the teachers and staff at Yosemite High.
