Large crowds expected for Oakhurst Fall Festival

September 24, 2013

Oakhurst Community Park will be filled with booths offering wine, chocolate and a variety of goods and services Oct. 12 and 13 during the 21st Annual Oakhurst Fall Festival, the event formerly known as the Wine and Chocolate Festival.

"There will be ample amounts of wine from regional wineries to sample as well as offering from numerous chocolatiers," said Darin Soukup, executive director of the Oakhurst Area Chamber of Commerce which puts the event on.

"The event has much more to offer as well, with cheeses, nuts, as well as beers from regional microbreweries. There will also be numerous collectibles, a silent auction, live music and a classic car show on Saturday," Soukup said.

The event is truly family-friendly, as there will be kids' activities provided by the Children's Museum of the Sierra as well as a petting zoo and a dunk tank.

"The Fall Festival is about showcasing everything our community and our region has to offer," Soukup said. "We put together a truly diverse array of offerings so everyone has something they will be excited about."

In addition, area restaurants have been invited to provide a wide variety of menu options.

"The idea is for people to see what our businesses have to offer and we have some truly amazing restaurants with talented chefs," said Soukup. "This event provides a great venue for them to show off their skills and their best dishes."

The Fall Festival runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday. Admission is $2. Tickets for beer, wine, cheese, nut and chocolate tasting as well as and kids' events and other activities cost $1 each.
