Responsible dog owners days Saturday in Oakhurst

Oakhurst Feed & Pet Supply, 40119 Enterprise Drive, will be celebrating its 4th Annual American Kennel Club Responsible Dog Ownership Day, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. this Saturday.

This initiative, supported by the AKC, gives families time to "bone up" on responsible dog ownership. Whether you are looking to add a puppy to the family, educate yourself as a first time adult dog owner or looking to enhance your relationship with your current pet, this event will offer plenty of advice and information.

The AKC believes that education is the key to addressing responsible dog ownership issues in every community.

Treats for pets and their owners will be available along with many raffle prizes throughout the event.

Organizations including Therapy Dog International, AKC, and Central California Animal Disaster Team. A pet photo booth will be available during the event.

Programs and seminars include:

10 a.m. - AKC breed demonstrations

12:30 p.m. - Canine ice cream social

1 p.m. - Animal photo contest winners announced

2 p.m. - Check presentations to Eastern Madera County SPCA and Canine Companions for Independence

Sponsors of the event include Nature's Variety, Canine Caviar and World's Best Cat Litter.

Responsible Dog Ownership Days run throughout the month of September, with hundreds of organizations around the country holding free seminars filled with fun and engaging activities.
