Wawona School celebrity golf tournament Saturday

Sports Briefs for 9/19/13 edition of the Sierra Star

Wawona Elementary School's 19th Annual Celebrity Scramble Golf Tournament at the Wawona Hotel Golf Course will be held at 8:30 a.m. Saturday.

Former California State University, Fresno golf coach Mike Watney, former Congressman George Radanovich, Warren Armstrong from ABC30 News and former KSEE 24 news anchor Faith Sidlow will be among the players.

The festivities begin 8:30 a.m. a continental breakfast reception and putting competition, followed by a shotgun tee-off at 10 a.m. After a day on the course, players will be enjoy a 4 p.m. wine reception and barbecue awards dinner on the hotel lawn. Non-golfers are invited to attend the barbecue to support the school. Cost for dinner only is $20 for adults and $10 for children.

The event will culminate with a raffle and an auction including overnight lodging packages, a 24-inch Samsung flat screen HDTV/monitor, and a Roku 3 Streaming Player.

Registration for the golf tournament is $150 per golfer and includes greens fee, golf cart, breakfast, lunch and awards dinner.

All proceeds will help keep Wawona School open this school year.
