The 17th Annual Mountain Heritage Days, featuring a parade and community dinner, will take place in Oakhurst Friday and Saturday, Sept 20 and 21.

The celebration pays tribute to the early settlers of the Mountain Area and serves as a fundraiser for the Sierra Historic Sites Association. The association is made up of volunteers who spend hundreds of hours a year to improve and maintain the Fresno Flats Historic Village & Park on School Road (427).

The colorful parade is 10 a.m. Saturday and the route has been shortened this year. The parade, with bands, floats, Yosemite National Park horseback rangers, dance groups and antique cars, will travel from Yosemite High School on School Road (427) and then west on Crane Valley Road (426), but ends at Sierra Way (Oakhurst Physical Therapy), rather than continuing to Golden Oak Loop (Grant Mercantile).

Following the parade, a variety of activities and demonstrations will take place at Fresno Flats.
