Geryl Ray Smith, of Oakhurst, died on Aug. 15, 2013 at the age of 71.
Mr. Smith was born in Davenport, Okla. on Nov. 2, 1941 to parents Icam and Ople Smith.
Mr. Smith was enlisted in the Army from 1959 to 1962 where he played the bagpipes for the Army Band. Following his stint in the Army, Smith worked in the hospitality business working for numerous National Parks including Glacier National Park, Yosemite National Park, Lake Powell and Black Lake in Michigan.
He enjoyed skiing with his children and was involved in the Yosemite Ski Team. He also enjoyed dancing on most Saturday nights and fishing with his friends.
Mr. Smith is preceded in death by his parents; son, Todd Smith; and siblings Julian Smith, La Veda Bevis and Clydie Reese.
He is survived by the love of his life Jeanne Vukson; brother, William Smith; children, Paul Smith and Julianne Costello; and three grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held on Sept. 22, 2013 at the Masonic Hall at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Yosemite Winter Club.
