A Coarsegold man is in jail after allegedly harassing and threatening to kill another man and his family over a wood chipper during the Labor Day weekend, the Madera County Sheriff's Department said.

A deputy arrested the 36-year-old man Tuesday in Coarsegold on multiple counts of harassing and terrorizing residents in Oakhurst and Coarsegold, sheriff's spokeswoman Erica Stuart said. According to Stuart, the man made the threats to a person he believed stole a wood chipper.

The man was booked into the Madera County Jail. His bail is set at $25,000.
