Harry Baker update

Madera County Sheriff's OfficeSeptember 6, 2013

Madera Cunty Sheriff’s Office received a call close to 1 a.m. Sept. 6 from someone claiming former Madera County Supervisor Harry Baker had been kidnapped in Modesto, brought to Madera County to withdraw funds as he was being held for ransom.

He was then reportedly brought to Modesto where he was reportedly being held against his will.

No one involved, that includes the reporting party or others possibly connected to this individual are cooperating.

We do not know if it was a hoax or if Harry Baker is really missing.

We cannot find him or his son who was reportedly aiding in the financial withdraws.

At about 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6 detectives received a call from someone saying he was Harry Baker, telling the detective that he was advised that we are actively trying to locate him. The caller said he was fine.

Sheriff John Anderson says that call is not good enough. “Until I see Mr. Baker in person, this search continues. Once I can see him in person, then I will call off this search.”
