North Fork man arrested for suspicion of murdering his brother

Sheriff John Anderson has announced Madera County Sheriff’s Detective took Mark McMurrain, 35, into custody Sept. 5, at his home located on Willow Creek Drive in North Fork, booking him on suspicion of murder.

Based on evidence detectives have gathered so far, it is suspected that McMurrain is connected to his brother, Christopher Lee Garrity, 29, who reportedly vanished from their shared home two weeks ago.

This morning detectives along with Search & Rescue K9 personnel, returned to the property, searching their property and property next door.

It was during their search detectives discovered human remains on the adjacent property.

The decomposed body is beyond recognition, therefore the Sheriff’s department cannot confirm at this hour if it is Christopher Garrity. The investigation is ongoing.
