Triathlon Saturday at Miller's Landing

Sports Briefs for the 9/5/13 edition of the Sierra Star

September 3, 2013

The inaugural My-Tri Triathlon is Saturday at Bass Lake's Miller's Landing Resort.

The event is open to boys and girls 5-17 years of age and there will be two divisions in the race — Masters and Juniors. The Masters division, with a 7:30 a.m. start, consists of a 100-yard swim, four mile bike ride and one mile swim and the Junior division with a 7:45 a.m. start, combines a 50-yard swim, 1.5 mile bike ride and 1/2 mile run.

Both races will start at the end of the dock at Miller's Landing. The swim will be followed by an out and back bike ride heading west on Road 222 toward the Lupine Cedar Bluff Day Use area, and then an out and back run heading east towards the dam on road 222. The bike transition area will be directly in front of Miller's Landing.

One lane traffic control will be enforced on Road 222 from 7-10 a.m. on race day.

Proceeds from the event will benefit North Fork Elementary School's athletic and art programs.

Registration is $35 the day of the race. All participants must provide their own life jacket and bike helmet for the races.

Yosemite High School student Brooke Di Fiore is assisting with the event for her senior project.
